was browsing the image arts website today and was so excited to see what changes are happening. they are putting a cool extension onto the building which will then house ryerson's very own gallery. so exciting, and really proud to say that i studied there. and its still recognized as being one of the top international places to study photography! www.imagearts.ryerson.ca

ive been thinking...
so i was browsing through the blog www.cocosteaparty.com and she's got a post on fashion editors and what they were wearing at fashion week. the first thing i noticed was that obviously they all look fab, they are all gorgeously thin and willowy, and they all have great jeans and great footwear. jeans are my one love and one nightmare. i wear them almost every day (when im not in trackies or leggings) and yet i am still on the hunt for that perfect pair. my body has changed a lot in the past 6 years, and my jeans range from cheap to expensive, dark to faded, slim to boyfriend. shoes i also love but also find a nightmare. im most happy in ballet pumps or converse, but love a beautiful shoeboot or pump. trouble is ive always been on a budget, so ive got a few pairs that are not quite right/verging on tacky. so really i should have just splurged on that fab pair in the first place.

i guess what im trying to say is that maybe now is the time to invest and also embrace the jean and heel. these women wouldnt look as good if they didnt have that great pair of jeans or if they wore a pair of primark heels. ok so their bodies are banging, but good clothes do help. and i know that i dont and unfortunately never will have a body that is like theirs, but the thing that keeps creeping up in my mind, the person who looks fab 100% of the time and who is probably one of the sexiest women in the world... beyonce. oh yes. i think we all need to start looking at her more, because she looks just as sexy as the fashion eds yet she has a 'normal' sized body...
so i guess the moral of the story is that i need a new pair of shoes and jeans, and that you dont have to be skinny to look really cool!

cowhide?
ive been thinking recently about pieces that i want in my (very soon soon soon) house/flat and that maybe i should start investing early. i worry that if i leave everything till when i actually move in i will explode with ideas and will run around like a headless chicken trying to hunt down all these things. so item number one is a cowhide rug. is this tacky / is this evil (eg. i wouldnt wear fur). i just keep thinking that i do love a good beefburger, and it does look so fab, and i know exactly wear to pick one up. hmmm decisions.

a single man
just got back from seeing tom ford's a single man, my friends found it slow, but i just thought the entire thing was crazily beautiful. gutted that colin firth didnt walk away with the oscar because he was incredible. i loved the cinematography...close ups on the eyes and lips, the colour cast changing in different scenes, julianne moore doing her makeup in the convex mirror, the focus going out until the picture blurs and the scene changes, colin firth in the water, the black and white scenes with matthew goode where its shot into the sun, the grain, i love the grain. and then theres the set. wow. so perfectly in that era, his beautiful house, the palm leaves in vases, julianne moores house with the orangery that they have to walk through to get to the main part of the house, her dressing room table, the fabrics, the shag pile carpet, the glass ware they drink out of, the glasses they all wear (i wish i had bad vision, i want them) the clocks and the cars... i cant stop thinking about it! here are some pics...

its been a while
so im no longer at marie claire magazine, and have just got back from a week in whistler. really cool to see the olympic stuff. also had this weird, happy closure by the time the holiday came to an end. its now my place, and i will always have people there, and a place to stay. and i have just good old 'longago' memories, but i am happily doing new things now and seeing new places.
